The Best Yet

I have received the best gift ever..for Valentine's Day, although it was the best gift (material object) I have received in my life.  I actually shared this breifly in one of my Valentine stories, but I feel like I needed to write a story just about the gift itself.

My 5-year-old daughter, made a pillow at school with her teachers.  Her teacher obviously did the sewing but she stuffed the pillow and used the foot pedal of the sewing machine to help ;).  She brought the pillow home, the day before Valentine's and was so excited, she unwrapped it herself and then proceeded to hand it to me.  She said, "Mommy I made this for you and you have to promise to sleep with it forever.  This way you will always know that I am with you and love you so so much, even when I spend the night at Grandma's." Tears automatically came to my eyes.  Just her innocence, yet maturity that she would think of giving me that to reassure me that she always loves me, no matter where she is in life..even when she is at Grandma'

I gave her the biggest hug and kiss and told her that I would cherish it for the rest of my life and always keep it in my bed.  It is more than the actual pillow that I cherish though, the words that she spoke to me is what I will cherish in my heart for the rest of my life, I will always take that with me.  It is these little moments as a mother that make my life so worthwhile.  I am so blessed.
