At times it seems the fates are out. I am in greyhound rescue have been doing it since 2006. I don´t count them. In the sense that I can´t keep them all. I have three ex-racing greyhounds and one whippet all of them were unwanted but I have given them a home and am thus sourrounded by unconditional love. I help to find homes for greyhounds one needy soul at a time. I am over the moon when it works out and continue to fight for the greyhounds at every turn . They make wonderful family members and do not deserve the fate they usually get most never see their third birthday. So please don´t go to the tracks and don´t bet on the greyhounds. Please consider adopting one of these royal sighthounds.

You are so right, I have humbly stated that while I may provide love, care and shelter they provide me with profound lessons in life and love, guessing I m getting the better end of the bargain

I've always said as far as rescue work is concerned with animals, in the end, you start to realize who rescued who. And it's not what most think lol!!

Thank you, Christiancowboy for your kind reply. Again, I stand in respect for you in your mission to help those whom are helpless, in this life.

In a moment of honesty, I have cried more, over the loss of my pets than I ever did from the loss of (any relative). Animals are not jugemental. They love us regardless of just whom we are. They form a bond with is --- which is never broken, until their dying day. And not even then.

Thank you so much for being so kind and respectful for our "four-legged", "furry" friends.

Best regards to someone who understands the human equation: JIM

Jim I thank you for the compliment but like I have said before I am just doing what I believe is the right thing to do and well that doesn't make me remarkable or anything like that. I do feel terribly blessed to have what I feel is a gift. I seem to be able to connect with most critters almost instantly and so far God has provided me with all I need to care for some of them. I get so much in return from them it is amazing.

I agree with you that this world would be a better place if everyone could find it in their heart to give a hand up to another and you know it doesn't have to cost a dime, sometimes there is more value in a heartfelt "HELLO" and a smile then there is in anything else. I pray that someday, somehow we could all lay aside our differences and just see each other for what we are, FAMILY, one big family sharing this world

What a kind and remarkable person you must be. To love and care for those, who are helpless, is a blessing.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if we could all be as kind and respectful as you?

God will bless you for taking care of our four-legged, furry friends, who depend upon people such as you.

I wish you the best of luck, in this life. My regards and much respect to you: JIM

God has blessed all of you as well as the critters you have taken in. Up until last year, my husband & I fed (and called ours),17 cats. We currently have 7 now. The others have either lived out their life or were struck by illness. I have sat with many a kitty that dying as well as took care of one, Ziggy, that had became paralyzed. It was a pleasure to be able to feed her meals and care for her needs. At one time I also bottle fed 7 kittens and were lucky enough to place all of them with relatives. The bad part was letting them go. It was like giving my own children away. 2 of our cats now, I bottle fed as well and there's a definite difference in their personality. We also have a mama raccoon raise her babies in our yard every year, which is quite entertaining, we have possums and this year we were blessed with a skunk every evening. There were a few times when all the critters were in the yard, at the same time and nobody got their nose out of joint. Now if humans could get along like that, how much better life would be.

I hold that true --- you are, indeed "richer" for your experiences.

Your "bond" with your furry friends will last you a lifetime. You'll never forget.

Keep on keeping on. God loves you for your kindness to those whom he gave life to.

    Regards: Jim

    What a marvelous post.

As an animal lover, I can totally relate. Our "furry friends" depend upon our care and kindness. Without our support, many would suffer an unkind fate. Something God would not want to see.

Bless you for your love for those whom are "innocent". What a remarkable person you are.

Best of regards to you: Jim.

I understand what you are saying. You often are amazed at how an animal comes into your life. I have taken in ferrets who were biting and so angry. It doesn't take much to turn them around, just lots of love and care. I saw my kids grow up learning to care about animals and it certainly made them more compassionate people. I have a dog, cats and ferrets. Wouldn't give them up for anythings. They are my kids too.

I had a greyhound too! She lived to be 12! but eventually succumbed to bone cancer. I still miss her so much. I have greyhound envy when I see people with them here. She was an angel of a dog. They all are.

My home is gracedby three ex-racing greyhoundsand one beautiful whippet all of them were nwanted but not by me.It all began with the death of my whippet puppy of nine months of age. I was completely shattered by his death. He had been diagnosed with haemophelia and a cerebral tumor. I had to let him go with love as both these conditions wereextremely painfuland lethal log term. How could I let him suffer I could not. I was supposed to get a galgo from Spain as it turned out I got a young ex-racing greyhoun instead. It was a blessing in disguise. I later found out that he is related to my very first greyhound Niki who died in her sleep back in 1993. I believe it was fate ment to be. I formed my own organisation in 2006 and in 2008 I moved to a bigger place and brought two more deserving greyhounds home. So who rescued who? I think we were ment to be together and I fight for the greyhounds and alert others to their plight. I find suitabel homes for greyhounds that are at the end of their racing careers and thus unwanted. Thanks for sharing the story above know you are not alone. Greydk from Greyhound Action Denmark.

I know what you mean, having rescued animals all my life as well. But I like to think of it as more of a reciprical thing, like we were brought together to help one another. Still, as you said, every time a "lost" dog comes into my life I learn something new about myself and I also usually learn to appereciate something about life that I have overlooked before.

For example, I have had older dogs the past couple of years, and they needed to be babied more. But I recently got a younger, wilder dog who "makes" me walk her every day, which gets me out with people in a way that I had forgotten I loved--being dragged by a leash, haha. We're both quite happy with this new arrangement.

I'm with you, my friend. Life is short; it should be spent with animals whenever possible. They have so much to teach us if we take the time to listen. Then WE are the lucky ones.
