My illness, to me, started at age 25, although the doctors think it started in my teens. I was iniatially diagnosed Bipolar at age 30 after having a psychotic breakdown and trying to commit suicide. I'm 44 now and my diagnosis was changed to schizoaffective disorder about 8 months ago. My first symptom was at 25 when God started to talk to me. I couldn't figure out what he was trying to tell me but he was certainly giving a good go at it. In my twenties I worked as a pastry chef. I didn't know the long hours, fatigue, and stress was making it worse. I actually thought the reverse and worked even more because the busier I was the less I heard God. Being home alone was the worst and I started drinking myself into stupers to end my misery even if just for a couple of hours. At age 27 new hallucinations started. I believed there was a monster in the walls and that objects were conspiring with each other telepathicaly to get me.
