Scimitar Syndrome

I am 27 yrs old. I was born with scimitar sydrome in 1985. One of only about 16 babies at the time with the syndrome in the USA.  My parents were told I wouldnt live past the age of 2 yrs but the doctors dont know everything. By the grace of GOD Im now 27 and married with two children and I was always told growing up I would not be able to get pregnant or carry a baby. Our children are 7 and 5.

My son is five years of age he's living with the full scimitar syndrome and I'm afraid to get him the surgery thanks for sharing ur story.

As a parent a am so happy for you. I have a child diagnosed with scimitar syndrome. My daughter is 18 years old. She struggles knowing her heart is not wired like most peoples. The doctor's assure her she is fine for now and that oneday she may have a problem. It is so hard for someone to come to grips with accepting a disease / disorder that may or may not give you a problem. She frequents sites where families are dealing with surgeries and the unknown. I can't thank you enough for sharing your story in doing so - you give hope to someone like you who has a poorly wired heart but, has a LIFE to live. I cry and weep for the fear she has sometimes, I am so appreciative for your sharing your story. Please continue to do so, God does have a plan and sometimes we just don't see it. God bless you. Good luck raising those 2 children of yours, now you know how important love really is in the world. Our children are our hearts, they keep us beating. XO PLEASE GET OUT THEIR WITH YOUR STORY because it is empowering.
