I Have Tattoos
It is very important to me that tattoos have meaning. I found one I liked, but I put the pattern in a drawer. It's a celtic tattoo of three horses in a circle. From time to time, I took it out and looked at it to make sure I still liked it. It's a permanent investment. I wasn't sure why I was so drawn to it, but I held on to the pattern for a couple of years. In the meantime, I went through a separation, a wrong-headed reconciliation, then another separation. I was traumatized by my personal life and stuck in the pain. I took out the tattoo pattern and realized what that tattoo meant to me. I used to live on a cattle ranch, and we had horses. Horses prefer to go forward rather than backing up. For me, my horse tattoo pattern was telling me to move forward. So I went down and had it done. Anytime I'm tempted to look into the past and think about my regrets, I remember my tattoo and think, "Move forward."
