Ulcerative Colitus Treatment That Works

After being diagnosed with UC over two years ago, I underwent treatment using Prednisone (which with a heavy dose brought the disease under control) but was inappropriate for long term treatment due to side effects. I then was prescribed Lialda and Sulfasalazine type drugs, none of which had any significant effect. To treat the symptoms, I used generic immodium for diarrhea and generic Metamucil to provide more bulk in my stool.

After two years of aggravation and attempting to find an anwer, I was sent to a specialist at Shands Hospital. She recommended trying 4 grams of curcumin daily, 2 in the morning and 2 at night. Behold, my symptoms disappeared after a few days!! I have since reduced my dosage to one and one-half grams in the morning and the same at night. I continue to use one full tablespoon of Metamucil every afternoon. My bowel movements are reduced to once or twice in the morning and that's it for the day. I consider myself in full remission and have been so for 6 months. No prescriptions necessary. How long it will last is an open issue.

I find the Jarrod's Curcumin 95 with 500 mg capsules on line and now buy it in bulk quantities to keep the price low.
