My Story

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 8. I was controlled on asacol for a year. But then I had a major episode and in the hospital for a week.i had lost half of my blood in 1 week. I tried prednisone and other iv meds but nothing worked. I was put on lialda and was on a cycle of remicade. After that i was in remission for two years. But for the past year and half I have been having flare-ups related to puberty. They have been hard to control. I cannot eat any dairy or bananas because they cause flare ups. Anyone with any advice or treatment ideas are welcome.

This isn't a treatment or anything, but it might help. I know that whenever I get stressed, I flair up. Try not to get stressed or upset if you can. Yoga can help with relieving stress, staying calm, and it seems to help with reducing the pain. Just stay positive and don't ever feel embarrassed to go to your friends or anyone else for help. There is always someone there to help you when you need it, and it makes everything more bearable.
