I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. I love to serve men. Usually on a large platter. With carrots and potatoes, and a good merlot.

chrissara I agree with what you're saying. it's not so much "serving" as it is to learn to compromise (yield) and support each other. Very much easier said than done in most cases. :)

The scripture says that the wife should "submit" meaning "yield". Meaning lets take it slow, compremise and communicate and come to an agreement. NO one is the leader in a relationship there is a balance. The bible teaches that if the husband is in place and treating the wife right then He'll recieve her best at doing her part. Its a full cirlce: you treat me I'll treat you/I treat you you treat me. *** for tat you get what you give

OMG.. its like Deja Vu.. my bf's aunt, though i love her to death, said the same thin to me two nights ago.. (we're pretty close). she knows me and her nephew have been havin some trouble and that i want out. she wasn't on anyone's side, but "accordin to the bible you would be commitin a sin... and dat womens place on earth is to serve..." i don't how i knew the last part of that sentence but i blocked it out...i jst didn't want to hear it out loud. and i feel very strongly about it. we debated for a while about it, tryin my best to respond maturely and respectable, though i wanted to say "HELLER NOOO LADY!"

    You're dead on Marji!

Jim's very lucky to have you. :)

I think that, in relationships, people 'serve' eachother. Its doing what you can for your partner because you *care* and want to...not because its written down somewhere.

My friend's grandfather (who was also a minister) said that every scripture has a literal meaning and can also be applied to present day. He said for its literal meaning, you had to look at the scripture in context. And as for applying the scripture, you can ONLY apply it to your life and nobody else's. Interpret as you wish, but that interpretation is only for you.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure she didn't know what she was talking about when it came to quoting things, etc. Biblical discussion is always touchy because its dependent upon the interpretation of the reader...

well the bible outlines how women are to "serve" men and men are to be head of the household

however i always read it as men are to have final say as to what goes on however that DOES NOT by any means say that there is to be no deisiction of matters that woman cannot persuade the man in their life to do what they want and it does not mean that weman CAN"T work

I've always been aware of the mindset...I'd just never gotten into it with someone who so thoroughly believed that they were right.

haha....most people 'forget' the context of verses when quoting the Bible. :)

To quote Lois from Family Guy: "Peter, what hell?" (Let's pretend your name is Peter.) Eghh... I've read the Bible. I don't see that in there....

was that really the first time you've heard it? I live in the bible belt and I've known my share of people who think that way; men and women. This is a man's world...
