Seaworld (birdworld?)

A personal story in the experience: I Hugged a Flamingo
W hen I was in 11th grade, I went to Seaworld Career Camp for a week. It was a great experience. I touched virtually every animal in the park and learned all about them. However, Seaworld isn't only for sea creatures, it has a whole section in the back dedicated to birds! They don't show you the birds, oddly enough, except in the flamingo section (and penguins, but really... they're sea creatures whereas flamingos aren't as associated with water). So in the back, past the cages of screaming parrots and macaws, there is a separate enclosure for the flamingos that walk through the park every day at 10am for the flamingo parade. These flamingos are used to human contact. They are tagged with numbered collars on their legs.

The keeper was hilarious. She told us we could hug the flamingos... well, actually, only her favorite flamingo, "Number 29!". So we took our pictures and held the flamingos.

They really are as silly as they look. They're just ridiculously funny little creatures. They're goofy and make indignant noises and ruffle their feathers and run at you for attention and parade around in front of you. They're just like the flamingo in Alice in Wonderland that she uses to play croquet with. It was awesome.
