They Can't Let You Down

Fictional characters have no off-camera personal lives, their lives are completely contained in fictional stories. If the writer(s) change the character to where you don't respect them anymore, it's much easier to just ignore the changes. If a real person stops being what you knew them as, they have really changed and it's much easier to lose faith in what you believed in in them. Fictional characters aren't perfect, but they don't hide their inperection from you, in fact, the inperfections are often what we love most about them. Also, fictional characters don't have to be human, I have trouble idolizing human beings, or even respecting them.
