1st Mother's Day

I lost my mom on April 1st, 2011.  It was very sudden, my wife, my father, and i had just visited her in the residential care home the weekend before.  Her mind was slipping but physically she seemed to be improving.   The staff said that the night before she passed she had been singing nursery rhymes with the other residents and enjoying herself.  She was gone the next morning.  I suppose that passing in your sleep, somewhere where you are happy, is about the most one can ask for.  She would have preferred to be home with dad, but she knew why she couldn't.

This has been my 1st mother's day without her.  The mother's day ads have got to me a bit, but I know that mom knew she was loved.  Dad came and visited for the weekend, and that helped.  He's doing remarkably well, and for that I'm thankful.

Thanks for everything mom, you are missed.

It is never easy losing a mother, and Mother's Day is always a cruel reminder to those who have lost their mothers.

Thanks. I think of mom often. And with time it doesn't hurt as much. Dad's doing a lot better. This Friday would have been her 80th birthday.

That will be an emotional day. I still get emotional on my mother's birthday and she's been gone for 20 years.

My condolences on your loss. You're so young for your mother to be gone that long. :( At least in my case she had a reasonably long life and it was near the time one 'expects' it happen. But it's still in your mind.

Mine was only 47 when she died. My daughters never knew her, but I make sure they know of her.
