Short Nails For Nursing

I keep my nails short due to the fact that I'm a nurse and work around alot of older adults whose skin is extremly thin. They get enough skin tears as it is and nothing makes me madder then seeing a nurses assistant caring for a patient with long nails. I'm mean come on you know the requirements before you take the job and the job discription isn't for freddy Krueger. I've had to steri stip a whole arm before to to the long finger nails. I was a aide for 3 years before becoming a nurse and patient care came before tacky long nails.

Some people don't deserve to be a nurse. It takes a special person to do that kind of work. Very caring, common sense, and smart too.

yes, I think short nails are prettier anyway..:) good luck!

You abe absolutely right. I'm going to school to be a medical assistant. One of the first rules was no long nails! They can also harbor bacteria. You can still have nice short nails.
