The Gift

He smashed me in the face with a jelly donut because I wouldn't go out with him.

He took me out to lunch every day for one year until all his savings were gone.

He told me he was going to marry me the day that we met.

He had dark ringlets that curled at his neck.

He started to leave the delivery room with our son before they had cut the umbilical cord.

He was so smart.

He never had an enemy.

He was a fierce competitor.

He was brave and kind.

He told me before the operation that he would find me. He promised. He said you have to go on and have a good life. You have to find someone, none of my friends.

He said I was his heart. He was so beautiful. He was such a gift.
