I Knit
I've been attempting to put together a hand knitted bridal purse filled with the usual "bridal" items (also hand knitted) but I'm finding that my goal isn't as easy to reach as I'd initially suspected.
I've already completed two knitted "glove" type patterns and both of them are disappointing so far. I'll post a few photos. I unravelled the first one so I can post that photo but I have to admit that it looked nothing like the photo I saw on the pattern. The second one I tried is lovely, but too short and rather useless looking for anything aside from "wrist warming". My 8 year old loves them.. so if nothing else, she'll inheret them if I don't add them to the gift. ;)
The third pair is the one I'm currently working on and is not quite as "fancy" as the other two patterns but is still fairly elegant looking. I'd like for whatever I give her to be something she might actually enjoy wearing again -- not just as a wedding day accessory.
The other items in the purse will be your typical "something old, something borrowed, and something blue." All in all, the knitted pieces will be: The purse, the gloves, and a lace garter. I'll post a photo of that here as well.
If you (the reader) would be so kind as to give me your opinions on the gloves, I'd be grateful. I'm running out of time and I really want the gloves to be a part of the gift.. if only I can settle on a style.
This is the first glove I knitted. I LOVE the pattern, but it honestly does not look the same in person. Mom veto'd this one immediately and I don't blame her:
This is one option: (I think it's pretty'ish, but I'm not wow'd and it isn't very functional)
And this is a photo of the pair I'm currently working on. They'll be in winter white silk lace rather than the grey shown here:
