For three decades I've been working in a trade where nobody is to be trusted.  Especially the colleagues.  It was part of the game and everybody knew.  We were comrades, ready for any treacherous trick.  Elderly guys.

Cheating and back stabbing were common practice and reason for pride, bragging and rejoicing publicly.  But we were brothers and proud to be.

Trust was a strange concept in my trade.  Everybody was cheating but trust was the only real bond and the only way to achieve something.  Without trust on a deeper human level we couldn't survive.
