I Amused My Doctor.

I laugh when I'm nervous.  The more nervous I am the more I laugh.

I had to go to the doctor about a year ago because I had developed a mystery case of rectal bleeding.  Needless to say, this was an uncomfortable experience for me.

I did okay until the doctor told me he was going to have to do an on-the-spot exam.  I expected to be referred to a specialist, so I was like: "Seriously?  I don't know about this."  He went to one of the drawers and pulled out some medical instrument that was approximately as large as a flashlight.

Well, the nerves set in and I started laughing.  He was like: "Um, you know where this is going, right?"  And I'm laughing and apologizing profusely and explaining how I laugh when I'm nervous.  He goes to do his thing and I'm laughing so hard I'm crying and he starts laughing too and says:

"You know, I've done a lot of these over the years and this is the first time I ever had THIS reaction!"

The nurses at my colonoscopy were less understanding.  I think they thought I was some kind of sicko.

Turns out it was just a hemorhoid by the way, thank goodness.

omg, i always laugh like a crazy person at the doctor! i absolutely hate getting examined, and i start laughing and don't stop until i'm out of the office. plus i'm very ticklish, so put that together with nerves and you've got the stuff awkward moments are made of!
