Some of My Favorite Quotes

A bore is a man who deprives you of solitude without providing you with company.
    Gian Vincenzo Gravina (1664 - 1718)

I love the irony in quoting this:
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.

Man, Oscar Wilde was so much love - no wonder he was persecuted so.

Ok since we seem to have an Oscar Wilde theme going here I'll add my favorite by E.E, Cummings "To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting."

Truer words are hard to come by. Thank you.

excellent choices

I caught myself in the same place finding the same irony in the same quotation! But now that I know it lost its joy :(

One I've liked - 'When you know (only) how to use a hammer, everything looks like a nail' (author & actual, original quote unknow to me)

I've loved that one, but heard it as
"When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail"
..and i don't know if im alone on this, but all i can think of when i hear it is ..Men!

Very good and very true

Ain't that the truth.

:) lol. I always wonder just how boring I may be...

and i wanna do good in mimicking Jesus my Lord :-D

why do we fight?<br />
because blood makes the grass grow greener!<br />

Great minds have always ben persecuted by the mediocre...<br />

Those who wander are not always lost.---Ghandi

Exactly....more of the people keep on doing the things that were already done and hence they always get something which they always had.....Also,I really hate people who obstruct others doing really good things...just because of the fact that they can't do it.....

I am glad, God have created some one <br />
as wonderful n beautiful and environment freindly girl like you

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead.

Wilde has a way with words :)

Wilde's quote is so true, sometimes I feel like I am one of those people. Guess there are a lot more beta than alphas.

that Wilde was a vividly sarcastic one wasn't he? but he speaks the truth of life with a mix of comedic relief ... there's something to be said for that.

Wilde is probably the heavyweight champ of quotes. Here are some of my favorites by Wilde.<br />
<br />
"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."<br />
<br />
"I'm dying beyond my means." Upon being given champagne on his death bed.<br />
<br />
"Either that wallpaper goes or I do." Also said on his death bed.<br />
<br />
"Just my talent." Said to a customs agent in reponse to the question, "Do you have anything of value to declare?"

very nice.
