I Love Love Love Discovering New Music

I love it some much.

But I HATE it when the artist or band that I discover goes big and mainstream.

Say I like a band (let's call it Band A). So I like Band A but it is an underground band (meaning followers are generally through MySpace or other music sites).

So Band A releases a song and everyone likes it. It's playing on the radio 24/7, hits the top of the charts on iTunes, everyone knows about the band.

So then I'm listening to Band A because I liked them for a while now, but everyone knows about Band A. When someone see's that I'm listening to Band A, they assume that I'm just "following the crowd" and listening to Band A because everyone else does...when in fact I knew about them WAY before they were big.

That's what I hate.

But I still love discovering new music.

OMG, sooo true, that grinds my gears too!

An example, one of my band A's is Kings of Leon, who I have been listening too from day! Way before they dropped their most resent album , 'Only By The Night', you know the one with that 'Sex on Fire' track which just blew up the charts in 2008.

Anyway, these days when people scroll through my IPod and realise that Im a Kings Of Leon fan they are like, KOL is soo 2008, and they think I am just bandwagoning cause their last album was awsome, which is total recyclable plastic cause I feel commercial music lacks passion but its not my fault if a band I like goes commercial right ??
*End of random rant* Anyway, thanks for sharing though, can totally relate! :)

I`m with you on this one. I also do hate it when bands I like go mainstream, lol.
But not because of people thinking things of me, but to know that the band will become banal soon.
