Homeless Guy

Lastnight my kids and I went to home depot to get some wood for this weekend project. Going in, there was an icecream vendor. Ofcourse the kids wanted some so I said we would get some on the way out. On the way out icecream in hands I saw someone I recognized. The guy was sitting on the curb holding some news papers. I couldn't figure out who it was until I reach my car. We got in the car and pulled around to where he was sitting. I called his name and he looked up. He had a blank stare for a few seconds and than realized who I was.

After talking for about 5 minutes I listened to the story about my highschool friend had been divorced, lost his job, house, kids and was waiting for an interview at the local home depot when I pulled up. This guy was homeless! I couldn't believe it, I never thought that this guy could have it so bad. I told him to get in, I dropped my kids off at my sisters. We went to a dennys and we sat and talked for about an hour. I really felt bad for this guy. He was an ex marine, 3 years later his son died by some sort of natural cause. His wife cheated on him, divorced him and left him with nothing. He bounced back a few times but couldn't seem to get out of this hole he is in.

I really believe I seen this guy sitting on that curb for a reason. It's up to me now to decide what to do. I got him into a hotel for a week. I know he has a drug problem he admitted that to me. I have looked up some treatment places I could get him into. I think all this guy needs is a little help and his life would change for the better.

A bob thought:

TO DO RATHER THAN NOT DO,, ONE MUST PRESS ON!

NOTHING IN THE WORLD CAN TAKE THE PLACE OF DETERMIND PERSISTENCE.

TALENT WILL NOT.

NOTHING IS MORE COMMON THAN UNSUCCESSFUL MEN WITH TALENT.

GENIUS WILL NOT;

UNREWARDED GENIUS IS ALMOST A PROVERB.

EDUCATION ALONE WILL NOT;

THE WORLD IS FULL OF EDUCATED DERELICTS.

SMELLING THE ROSES WILL NOT:

UNCARED ABOUT GARDENING IS A TOKEN OF SADNESS.

BUT EVEN DETERMIND PERSISTENCE ALONE IS'NT OMNIPOTENT;

IT REQUIRES THE WISDOM OF APPRECIATING DOWN-TRODDEN OTHERS WITH COMMON ORDINARY FRIENDSHIP TO MAKE WHATVER IS DONE WORTHWHILE FOR HUMANITY'S BETTERMENT.

A THOUGHT SO BRIGHT
By bob

There’s a thought so bright
As the darkness close of the day,
When I’m tired, weary, and sad,
That firmly grips hold of my crusty old heart
And bids it be merry and glad.
It gets in my soul and drives out the blues,
And finally thrills through and through,
It is just a sweet memory that chants the refrain:
“I’m glad for good doers just like you!”

I think that you have a great heart my friend and I hope he gets back on his feet soon. Seeing things like this happen to innocent people makes me afraid to get married.

I THINK YOU'RE WONDERFUL PERSON FOR HELPING A FRIEND OUT IN NEED AND GOD WILL SURELY BLESS YOU ..... I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU'RE FRIEND IS DOING OK NOW? I HOPE HE REALLY IS.

Yup I want to as well It is so nice of you to ask how he is doing. ::)

I remember when I was young my family went to Tiger Stadium to see the Tiger's play . There was this man he lokked terrible he looked Hungry dirty awefull. Everyone we saw looked away from him ignored him. My Dad saw him went over to him he went to him talk to him gave him something to eat and helped him find a place to stay. I alway's remember that and help people whereever I can.
