My One Year Anniversary
Today is my 1 year anniversary at my current job. I've had three employers since I graduated from college, mostly because of the recession. I was hired right out of college, and it was a great job, but then the recession hit and I was let go after just six months. Luckily, I found another job fairly quickly, but it was at almost half the pay and didn't require a college degree. I processed payables and receiveables. I had to move back in with my parents because I couldn't afford my own place. But, I kept at it, sending resumes, looking for jobs in my field and a year ago I was hired for more than I was paid at my first job. It was hard to leave the friends I had made at the second job, but I stay in touch with them and we even go out together once in awhile. I am very proud to say that I did not miss a single day of work over the last year but that's mostly because I dodged catching any of the sicknesses that people were suffering from during the winter. I now have 10 days of vacation to use over the next year. I'm so excited! I have horder instincts, so I might use a few days at Christmas and then take a week next spring when it's closer to being replenished. Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging. I know there are a lot of people still out of work and I should count myself as lucky.
