What's Not to Love?

I used to drink beer. Not Coor's or **** like that, but really good craft brews. Even as far back as 1990 when the whole microbrewery concept hadn't taken off yet.

But once I moved to the Bay Area, I started drinking more wine. And now I drink almost nothing else. I mean c'mon, there is so much good wine here that if you had a different bottle every night for the rest of your life, you couldn't possibly have it all. And that's just the good stuff.

For red wine I'm a big Pinot Noir drinker, although Cab Savs have definitely been attracting my attention lately. There's a Regusci 1998 Cabernet that I just love. In fact, the whole Stag's Leap district up in Napa is swimming in good Cabernets.

You should check it out.

I am really into South American wines right now - they are much more economical too!

at the moment, I'm more a cab sav person (:

personally I just bought myself a book by DK called 'Wines of the World'. I was looking at the various grape varietals and thought to myself that I ought to try Pinot Noir from New Zealand someday as the book described this particular grape varietal as one that 'makes some of the world's greatest wines' and added that it is 'soft & silky: displays summer fruit flavors when young. Oak maturation adds a creamy, vanilla dimension. With age, aromas of game and truffle develop'. This sounds appealing to me!

I agree with your 'there is so much good wine here that if you had a different bottle every night for the rest of your life, you couldn't possibly have it all'. That's exactly what I thought!
