I Have a House Guest.

For five days now I have found this guy on the washing machine in the morning. He spends a lot of time in the tub. He's there now.

He's quite friendly and likes his head stroked.

I present Alberto

I had a sparrow fly into my house one morning... the poor thing must have been scared out of his tiny mind, he was fluttering all over the place, hitting the walls... finally, he crash landed... I went over and grabbed him up, and he climbed on my finger... He sat there long enough for me to slowly reach for my camera and I got a couple shots... then he just flew away outside. That was awesome!

Ta know, that could be taken in a really wrong way LOL!
I, myself, draw the oral sex line at frogs!

Hmmm, I'm not sure about kissing frogs, I'll blow one for you when he returns. He's been gone a few days, again.

Alberto is a most loverly frog! Please give him a kiss for me!

PS.. Tesco sounds a lot like our Walmart. I rarely shop there. The screaming, dirty children are extremely hazardous. And whenever I see a questionaire asking how I like the Walmart, I tell them so!

Hmmm.... I heard a noise beside the bed turned on the light and it was a huge toad! He must have got in the cat flap. Also we have had a pine martin in the kitchen drinking out the dogs water bowl.
I could never live in the city. I love sharing my life with lots of wild creatures.

He did too. He's been sitting on the tap since I've come home.

Peaceonearth: Chavs are an English section of Homo Sapiens who are probably all very very nice but have a bad public image.
Chavs are very very loud, cheat the system, don't work, have illegal dogs, steal, roam in packs, blow smoke in your face, drop litter on the pavement, dump trash everywhere and so on. They only eat burgers and fries/chips. Their aspiration is to have an affair with a rich footballer and sell the story to the newspapers saying they were 'used'. I think in the US they are called 'trailer trash'?

Tesco is a supermarket chain that sells goods cheaply. Its like Wal-Mart. It is one of the habitats of the chav. The chav brings in children that steal the goods, are high on sugar and E-codes/additives. The children always scream a lot in Tesco and spill drinks on the floor.
I shop in Tesco but its usually quite stressful with the chav screaming children out of control.

I prefer treefrogs, on balance. Alberto is so not a chav, Alberto is class.

Alberto was missing for a few days. I thought he may have found a companion. This morning he had returned to his place behind a mirror.
Some information about our (imported) cane toad (Bufo marinus) can be found here:

and here:

Mr Cane toad seems to be a relative of your toads, and are unwelcome here. They have their place and this isn't it.

Alberto is a Green Tree Frog.

Oh WiseOldOwl.....do be careful!
Remember what happened to me....
Bluegrass?
What be "Chavs screaming at kids in Tesco"?

Chavs worse than anyfink, innit. Pink towelling suits, hair scraped back, lots of spots, *** in mouf, lots of gold rings on fingers, screaming at kids in Tesco.
Gimme a frog any day!

He's a bull frog. He started up last night. Noisy devil.

Oh! He is stunning, or it could be a she, female frogs are usually bigger than the boys. I have two brown tree frogs, I feed them live flys, they won't eat anything that doesn't move! They are not as stunning as old owls! (sorry frogs)

They do. Try to get them out as much as possible. Both my kids (now in there 20s) are far more in tune with nature than I was at their age. The eldest was 5 when we left the city.

Wow that is a pretty lookin frog,,...would be cool to live in the country...I think my kids miss out on so much learning and discovery in nature because we live in the city.

Alberto's a big frog, he'd be a good sized meal I think.

Bert lives outside, Alberto is free to come and go.

He's safe though. Bert is at a friends place ten miles away.

Alberto it is then. Not to be confused with Bert.

Actually I'd better keep Bert away from Alberto.

Alberto might become lunch otherwise.

The weather's still pretty good. It's nearly 11 pm, the temp is 25 deg C and I'm wearing, er not much.

August- September are our best months. Day after day of blue skies and fresh air at night.

I see Mr frog is in NSW, Australia. What's the weather like over there now? I hope to go there in spring.

what a beautiful frog. I love frogs. I live in the us in connecticut and the frogs aren't half as pretty as this one is.

That's a good question Bluegrass. I don't supplement his diet, that would be wrong. There is usually water in a container or dish in the tub. Eek, from washing my hands and a dripping tap.

I can't see any injuries and he looks healthy as best I can tell so I'll try to reunite him with his croaky friends outside.

It's so easy being green..........

What does he eat (flies?) where does he get water from?

He's about four inches long. I'm not sure what to do with him. He seems to like the laundry but the detergent from the washing machine may not do him any good. He could also end up in hot water, literally. LOL, I'm not thinking of cooking either!

Wow. He's a big un, isn't he! You have such pretty critters there WOO.
