One Of My Favorite Descriptions Of The Sound Of Rain

As is the case with many of you in this group, the sound of rain moves me deeply. For me,  it is both beautiful and haunting at the same time. One of my favorite poets, Edna St. Vincent Millay, describes rain in her poem "What Lips My Lips Have Kissed..." as "ghosts" that "tap and sigh upon the glass and listen for reply". It is such a unique, eery, but breathtaking metaphor for the sound of rain. It may not appeal to you, but it offers an interesting perspective that I thought was worth sharing :).
