In The Army!

I joined the Army as a young man. Pre - cell phone, pre-internet, the world was still a really big place. Hell, the cold war was still on. I did my time and got out. 10 years later I said "why not? I still need to do my part and I can use a little discipline. Little did I know how much of the Army had been taken over by privates who didn't believe the commander could make a proper decision without their input. :) I developed a saying that I would tell new teams or new team members right off the bat."In the Army, we have the distinct privilege to be fighting for democracy, however, the Army is NOT one. It is a dictatorship and I am the **** with the taters! Are we clear? " That usually did the trick, but if not, I would go on and tell them that I don't want to take their rank or put bad reports in their files. However, I do not enjoy smoking them either, so if I have to, I will make it unforgettable the first time so that there won't be a second." That usually cleared it right up. :-)
