I can't think of a better example than texting. In the time it takes to have a simple minded conversation by text, you can have a real, in depth conversation by phone, or (heaven forbid) talk face-to-face.
I wasn't aware how bad it had gotten until I came across two teenage girls, standing shoulder to shoulder, and texting each other.

Its kold. Real. Slow. Fake. Life is what we have made of it nothing more. You give me a computer and tell me its my bestfriend and wonder why i have trouble making real connections. Whats real is fake is kold is slowly killing our bodies so our minds will follow. Alberts knowledge is fleeting, we have 7.9 billion idiots. We have enough weapons grade plutonium to eraticate every square inch of this planet. We figured out away to kill everything before we found away to live together. Peace. Happiness. Love. Nothingness

No, I think mostly we have idiots. Most people have an inability to think about the third and forth order effects of their actions. Yes, some of it is instant gratification, but most is just selfishness combined with an inability to think things through. Hence three kids before they are old enough to drink (male and female).

“Most people have an inability to think about the third and forth order effects of their actions.” SO true. What is that, do you think? Is it because there has always been someone behind them, like the guy following the elephants at the circus with a shovel and broom?

I like the analogy. Yes, why worry about anything when everyone wins and it is never your fault? From children to credit cards, it just seems we are not really responsible. It kills me because I refuse to have credit cards, pay my bills on time, and yet I have a lower standard of living than people who don't pay their bills and taxes.

Great point, Justreadingthisnow. The one thing that frustrates be about people like nothing else, is so very few take any responsibility for their adult life. Makes me crazy!

I agree, snowlower. One thing I recalled my late father telling me was “Once you’re an adult, it’s you life, what it turns out like is entirely up to you.” and “Pray to the Lord, but depend on yourself.” I’ve passed this on to my to kiddos.
