I'll Do All the Cooking

I've been cooking virtually my whole life. I come from a family where most of the men know how to cook. I like it so much that I considered going to chef's school. What always stops me is I worry that if it becomes my job then I won't want to do it in my leisure life. I love cooking for friends and family. I especially like cooking for a special lady. I don't just replicate recipes...I make my own. Sometimes I remember to write them down, sometimes they are a one time thing. I don't use measuring cups or spoons, everything is by feel and taste. I've been told many times that I should write a book and who knows maybe some day I will. For now though, I cook for those that are close to me. I find it incredibly relaxing.....a huge stress reliever. It can also be the start to the perfect romantic evening. Food can be incredibly sexual.

Indeed. Well put.

No doubt - lol

By the time I'm done with you, you'll be able to buy a wooden fleet!! lol

Thank you LMM :)

I really do love watching people eat what I've created.

I'm counting on that Vignette !

Soon I'll have enough saved up to buy a shiny new wooden car - lol

Smart alec! Expect another wooden nickel coming your way! lol

Its easy.....handful of this...pinch of that....little salt thrown over the shoulder from three feet away...lol

For any man that likes to cook I say right on!! Which reminds me, you still owe me that hummus recipe! :-)

That's what it's all about. Changing things up and listening to your heart.

i also love to cook. i often do not follow recipe books. i just get ideas from them then cook it the way i want it.

Thats a good start. What foods do you like?

It's a lovely action and story, thanks for sharing! :D

I like to cook but only the food I like.... :p

I'm with you on that Kindal. Food can definitely be erotic and there is nothing that I like more than cooking for my fiance. I also am not formally trained. I think that formal training can actually stand in your way a bit. I cook with my heart first and my head second. You never know what combination might be a winner.

I love to cook and bake too. It can be very erotic if you have that special someone. I love getting the accolades when I make a good dish and someone likes it a lot. I use to own a restaurant and am a fairly good cook but i'm not formally trained.

Thanks for the comment.

I know all about long hours. I own a small business that does on call service work. If I ever get involved with the restaurant business it will be as an owner overseeing things not actual hands on. I'm not scared of hard work though. I would look forward to the challenge.

He was on thirds when we were still on firsts -lol

Well.....if Blue was an indication, fourths and fifths - lol

I've tossed around the idea for years......going back as far as my twenties.

No soup for you !!!!

Thank you :)

It may eventually be in my future to have my own restaurant. Who knows.....

Sounds like love to me. I think if you did actually do your love for your job you'de find that you still love it and still want to cook in your lesure time. ANd really think about a book if that's what your friends suggest. Continue your love for cooking. Who doesn't enjoy food. And you're right a good meal can make an evening wonderfull.

I may eventually get around to that. It's hard to put to paper how I cook because it's literally different every time. I try things, modify things, add things, take away things and change the proportions. It's rare that I measure anything.

You should definitely write book about cooking, you have a lot of talent!

That is true providing that you are lucky enough to be with someone that click with on that level.

The intimacy of cooking together can be incredibly sexual too. There is just something about being in the kitchen together, a little music, a little wine, creating something together.

I can imagine. For me that's always been the way so I sometimes look forward to days where I don't have to cook.

I've done most of the cooking for the family. Its always a tiny little thrill when the boys pass right by my wife and ask me whats for dinner.

One of the most frugal recipes is something my mom used to make when we were kids. We were very poor and I didn't even know it. She used to boil some pasta then top it with cottage cheese and a bit of sour cream. It is fast, cheap and remained a family favorite because it tastes great too. If my mom had some extra money she would cook up a little bacon and crumble it on top. Yum !

I love to cook. I'm experimenting with frugal recipes - all the food prices have risen sharply recently in the UK. I can rarely afford to buy meat these days...
