There Are Offensive Sayings.

We, as a culture, seem to give little regard to other people’s feelings. We say things that are hurtful as if no one ever feels effected by them. People use retarded, bastard, gay, and **** so often that they’ve lost their meaning to all but those who actually experience it. I am legally retarded and a bastard child and it is painful when people throw around these words without realizing what they really mean. It wasn’t my choice to be diagnosed with Autism, nor was it for my parents to have sex in high school, but I am the result of it. I have to live with the truth that I’m not equal to everyone else and lack things most people take for granted. I am a person just as much as anyone else, but I have challenges that a lot of people don’t share. Being given up for adoption is just as difficult as giving up your child for adoption, but being called a bastard just drives the fact deeper that I’ve never really had a family. There are some things that people should think about before they open their mouths, but I know I can’t expect much. The only thing I can really do is just say it myself, I am a bastard child, and I am retarded.
