Hi fun thing in Amsterdam (where I currently live) is that going shirtless everywher is not much of a challenge. More like a habit for lots of guys. When I go out shirtless I never take a safety shirt and do eveything shirtless. Been denied entry in shops once in a while but most shops don't care. The Dutch in general have a very "live and let live" attitude and shirtlessness is fairly common. I often go shirtless to my bank, the post office and the nearby shopping mall and never had a problem.

I did that once as a teen. I'd always had body issues, and my parents had punished me as a child for even sleeping without a shirt. But as a teen, once I got my driver's license I was less-carefully supervised and I managed to be shirtless periodically. The best time was when my parents left on vacation for a week during the summer, and I challenged myself to spend the entire week without even touching a shirt. I did all of my regular activities around the house and in town from sleeping to chores to shopping without wearing a shirt. Perhaps the most exciting week of my life--the constant adrenaline rush, fearing I'd run into someone I knew (or who knew my parents) and would judge me. I did a similar thing when I went to college freshman year, removing my shirt for the 10 hour drive and committing to not putting it on again until I absolutely had to, which didn't end up being until I had to register for classes my 3rd day there. Since that time I was "attacked" by the freshman ... 50 ... and only recently have started losing it. Needless to say I haven't done a "shirtless challenge" for awhile.

@BerthaButt666 The interesting thing is I'm unaware of a single state where being shirtless is a health code violation, despite how many restaurants claim it is. When I worked fast food, the owners of my restaurant insisted we deny shirtless customers access no matter what and told us to say it was a health code violation, but at the same time they openly acknowledged to us that there was no such code. It's ridiculous.

Relax, being shirtless should feel really good. When you're calm, other people are
more relaxed. Have a great barechestin'
summer ... let me know how you do on the
      challenge !

So they shamelessly told you to lie to the customers. Wonder how much they trusted y'all to be honest w/ them?

At the time I was hired, not much.

Eventually I worked my way up to assistant manager, and at that time they trusted my judgment implicitly.

      I'll tell another story.

Early on in my employment there, a man came in with three boys. They'd obviously been swimming either at the nearby lake or at the recreation center just across the street. None of them were wearing shirts, and my (female) owner kicked them out before they could be served. I was just a shift lead at the time. But I still expressed my disappointment. I was told at that time there was no such health code, but the owner's wife was uncomfortable with having shirtless men (or boys) in her establishment.

When I began managing the business for them, I told newly hired employees that the policy was the owners didn't want shirtless individuals eating inside the restaurant, but that anytime I was on duty it was OK, and that if the owners were there to still serve shirtless customers, but ask them (if they were staying) to eat in the outdoor seating. This was OK with the male owner, but not with the female owner. But they accepted my compromise.
