My First Summit
On August 22, I summited my first mountain. My group had hiked 5 miles already and was looking weary. After climbing up a series of moss covered boulders, we came to a clearing. The view opened up to the valley of the Green Mountains, the clouds seemed almost tangible. While I stood wide-eyed at this grand vista, I heard my TREK leader, Joe, say that this was the summit of Ethan Allen, 3680 ft. Holy ****, that's the highest I have ever been and I got here on my own two feet. I stood there looking out onto the horizon for ten minutes, taking it all in... this was my mountain.
