Read something different. Check out Gang Leader for a Day by Sudhir Venkatesh. It was truly the best book I've read this year. It wasn't something I would have normally read but I picked it up and gave it a go and I was delightfully surprised. I didn't want to put it down. I later listened to it on audiobook and enjoyed it even more this way. The book is the true life story of the author who was a sociology graduate student at the University of Chicago. I was interested in the underground economy of gangs. He went into the projects in inner city Chicago and spent approximately 10 years interacting closely with gang members and learning up close about life in the projects. Just reading that summary, I would not have been interested myself but check it out and see if you are drawn in the way I was.

Got me to tinking about when Iwas a house parent working with gang children. It would have been a good job for someone going after their doctorate. As for the book I never read it.
