Training For A Marathon

I have lost 35 pounds and ran a 20 miler today. I feel great and even some arthritis in my knees seems to have disappeared. My pace is really slow compared to my 20s. I once ran a 4:09 mile shortly after college, but due to a foot injury in 1994, I haven't run very much in the last two decades. I am making up for that now, preparing to run the Columbus marathon in late October. Today was my first 20 mile run in almost 30 years. I am tired and sore, but have a tremendous feeling of accomplishment.

That's great! Good luck!

Since writing this I have successfully run a 22 miler a week ago and now 10 days out from the marathon, I am coasting with shorter runs in order for legs to feel as fresh as possible. This has been an amazing journey for me and even if I don't have a strong marathon the journey has been incredible. My last obstacle was a doctor's appointment today and he gave me a green light and is confident that it will go well. I can't wait to get started.
