Getting too many tomatoes from your garden so you're giving them away?
Freeze them for winter soup and Chili.
It takes about 8 tomatoes to fill a zip lock baggie..here's what you do...
Clean yout tomatoes, drop them in boiling water for a minute..the skins will crack open..put them in cold water .The skin will come off easily. Dice the tomatoes on a plate.. Absolutely save the juice. I strain the juice from all those seeds..pour the juice in with your diced tomatoes. That frozen bag of tomatoes is perfect for a pot of Chili..prices are going up on canned foods.
Green peppers ...clean them and freeze in baggies..all winter you can get out as much as you need for any recipe.
Frozen corn on the cobb
I like to blanch fresh corn for 2 minutes ..cool them and cut the corn off the cobb. Bag it for winter. Buy fresh produce now if you see a low price. Corn is going to be expensive very soon.
You can save produce and you don't need to can.
Onions freeze nicely too.
