Pain To Be Forgotten

In the mountains high,
And the valleys deep,
Where the soft grass lies,
You can hear her weep.

Wondering what has hurt her so,
Reasons no one will ever know,
Ever watchful eyes probe deep,
As she cries herself to sleep.

Long lashes lay against her cheeks,
Spread out like a delicate fan,
A rare picture so sweet,
To be destroyed by a man.

Dreaming of better tomorrows,
Hoping to ease her sorrows,
Of the man who is no more,
To be forgotten forever more.

Except in her heart so deep,
Where love shall always lie,
This is the reason she weeps,
In the mountains high,
And the valleys deep,
Where the soft grass lies.
