The Window

"Don't just sit at the window and stare" yelled her Mother
"go out and get some fresh air"
But she just sat and gazed.
Outside her friends were laughing
"Come out" they said "there are games to be played"
as tears filled her eyes she whispered to no one
"I can't, I'm afraid"

"Don't just look out the window you slob" yelled her husband
"Go out and find a damn job"
But she just sat and grew so sad, her children half grown asked
"Mom why won't you stand up to Dad"
As tears filled her eyes she whispered to no one
"I can't, I'm afraid"

"I'll just park your chair by the window so you can see"
smiled the young nurse,
"no time to visit today i am a busy bee"
so there she sat and prayed.
Beyond the window she saw an angel and heard him say
"You've done nothing and allowed your life to fade"
as tears filled her eyes she whispered to no one
"why, why was i so afraid?"

thank you both...I am learning to be a stronger, wiser woman! :-)

I think on some level it is me and what could be if i dont change. Thank you so much for the compliment. I seldom let other people read my poetry because it is so personal, i am trying to not be so afraid! LoL
