For A Friend. Mission Accomplished :o)One sunny morning I heard a funny sound,
A roar I didn't recognise from deep within the ground.
My senses were awakened, I started to feel fear,
At first a slight vibration that told me it was near.
I lay there feeling helpless, not knowing of my fate,
My heart was beating quickly, doubling its usual rate.
The daylight, when it hit me, blinded my good eye,
Pain shot though my very core as I headed for the sky.
Letting out a piercing cry, my roots I felt them tearing,
Landing with a dreadful bump, I completely lost my bearing.
Squashed against my fellow men my nerves began to quiver,
'It was hell inside this metal box,' I was thinking with a shiver.
What was happening now to me, my air in short supply,
Plastic bag surrounding me, I was scared, I can't deny.
Bright lights engulfed my body as I tried so hard to wriggle,
A small child stood before me, I know, I heard them giggle.
The cold ate through my outer la
Then late upon one summers' day I was taken to a room.
I saw the glint of metal, I saw the human hand,
This isn't right, it can't be, this isn't what I'd planned.
If I could've screamed I would have, as I felt my skin be torn,
It ripped right through my winter coat that I'd had since I was born.
The light began to fade for me, I knew my end was nigh,
And as the masher came at me, I breathed my final sigh.........
