For A Friend. Mission Accomplished :o)

One sunny morning I heard a funny sound,
A roar I didn't recognise from deep within the ground.
My senses were awakened, I started to feel fear,
At first a slight vibration that told me it was near.

I lay there feeling helpless, not knowing of my fate,
My heart was beating quickly, doubling its usual rate.
The daylight, when it hit me, blinded my good eye,
Pain shot though my very core as I headed for the sky.

Letting out a piercing cry, my roots I felt them tearing,
Landing with a dreadful bump, I completely lost my bearing.
Squashed against my fellow men my nerves began to quiver,
'It was hell inside this metal box,' I was thinking with a shiver.

What was happening now to me, my air in short supply,
Plastic bag surrounding me, I was scared, I can't deny.
Bright lights engulfed my body as I tried so hard to wriggle,
A small child stood before me, I know, I heard them giggle.

The cold ate through my outer layer, the fridge was now my tomb,
Then late upon one summers' day I was taken to a room.
I saw the glint of metal, I saw the human hand,
This isn't right, it can't be, this isn't what I'd planned.

If I could've screamed I would have, as I felt my skin be torn,
It ripped right through my winter coat that I'd had since I was born.
The light began to fade for me, I knew my end was nigh,
And as the masher came at me, I breathed my final sigh.........

It is to be continued no doubt. Yes ? It is too grim not to open it up to a theme of elation and joy in the end.

Very Dramatic and wonderfully written. Good job ! Braaavooo!

Thank you

Thank you Penny.. Very nice

Well done

But tell me please the ending,

Of your story, so very exciting,

If you leave the ending, pending,

My lips I will be biting!

And when I bite down oh so tightly.

My lips will ache and bleed and hurt,

And aside from making them look unsightly,

I won't be able to eat any dessert!

Mom has made a chocolate cream pie,

Which is my very best and favorite

With my lip so sore, I know that I will cry

I just need a smidgen, if only I can savor it

And although my lip still aches and hurts,

I need to know your story's end

Because As long as I get my just desserts!

I will forever, be your special friend,

Hey, am I missing something - other than my mind, of course!

I think you're missing part of your lip, too :O)
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I never check up on my stories. Thank you for responding in that way. You're a poet and you didn't even know it!

lucky friend

I just need the right Muse to keep me amused! I am scheduled for LIPosuction later today! :-)

Anytime I chop an onion, I won't be crying because it releases chemicals that make a person's eyes tear up. I'll be crying because I remember this beautiful poem and the brethren of the onion I'm chopping.

*after looking back at the older post, glances left, then right* I, uh, forgot it was a potato. But they could still be brethren of some sort, couldn't they? And I'm sure their experiences would be very similar. I really should have known it at "masher." *hides under rock in shame*

I did keep its identity a little hidden to the end so no need to hide, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's fun to use personification isn't it?

Mission VERY accomplished, great use of the "first person". How am I going to stump your ability? I'll find some way, just give me time. It makes my feeble effort look very pedestrian.
