Olympia

To my first Great Dane
(1978)

We ran and pranced,
And played our little game out to the end.
We laughed and danced,
Each knowing that we always had a friend.
The hour grew late,
And sickness took my friend away from me.
You met your fate,
And somehow what was done just had to be.
I love you girl,
And will do so forever, come what may.
You’re free now girl,
I know that, that could be the only way.
I’ll see you soon,
And if it be in life or be in death,
We’ll chase the moon,
And love each other with our every breath!
