    Warmwhisper,

Why golly, Miss Molly, {couldn't help saying that, Molly is one of my ..favorite names!} Warmwhisper,. ya' came though for me, once again...Woudlja believe, there is a Home Depot, less than 5 minutes from my home...Once in a while, on a Wed., we go there, my balcony, is full of tropical, plants....they seem to thrive with my sunshine...But, did you know, that, at Home Depot, they let you walk around, with your dog....{just got to bring a pick=up bag},I haven't done this yet, as i tend to find a chair, in their outdoor section, located on the inside, with no sunshine, and almost, ac...[gotta stay out of the sun, allergic, oy}, but, I asked the clerk, if, i could pack a lunch, and bring it next time, I came with my dog..he said, sure, why not, lady, but, ..you gotta bring some to share with me..

As my husband monopolized all of his time, and, i was so thoroughly, enjoying myself, I never even thought of asking about tomatoes.., , however,i guarantee, that this Wed, i am going to Home Depot, with my husband, my dog, and a lunch, and I will buy those ...dollar tomatoes...I have this large, chinese five gallon pot, it used to hold..eggs, {I was going to use this pot, to collect the water from the bags, if I did that approach, what a procrastinator I am} so I think it would be safe to put the tomato plants, in there..How many dollars, should I bring with me??

I am eating a tomato, vidalia onion, sandwich, right now, but, i added some cucumber, this time, ooh, i am in heaven...

Thank you so much, warmwhisper, and, everyone else, who shared, their love of tomatoes, with me!

Yes--try your tomatoes this year! They like it hot! Small plants will still fruit--and you can get great deals at places like home depot this late in the season--I'm talkin a dollar! Also, you can root cuttings! Tomatoes also like their roots compressed. You can grow them in a 5 gallon Food Grade bucket and they are Totally Fine!!!

    Penguinsone,

Thank you for sharing..I live in an apartment now, and I have a large, enclosed balcony..I wanted to plant some tomatoes, this year, but, i do not get much direct sun, until ..the late afternoon..Is it worth me trying to get some going, of course not this year, but, if you have any suggestions, i would love to hear them....do those hanging baskets work, ? I can imagine how ,,messy that would be..but, i have large pots, so, if you have any ideas, pass them my way..Please let me know, if you do post a picture of your salad...and I hope you do delivery..

Also, your name is great, and may I ask, ..is it because you love penguins, or, are you perhaps a ..penguin, hockey ..fan? I ask this because I am in Pgh, Pa, with the..Pgh, Penguins, who won many a ..stanley cup...OOh, i would love to eat a salad out of the ..Stanley cup...My daughter, had the ..priviledge, of having it at her place of work, and, if i had that salad idea back then, i do not think she would still be employed....But, if they win again, i will sneak in, and eat a salad from the..stanley cup, and if you are in Pgh, we will make it with ..your tomatoes.....wow

    chipperchick, thanks you for sharing...

i am having so much fun with my tomato plants.. I have been watering and fertilizing them regularly.

Unfortunately, they're in pots, so I'm never going to get plants as big as those that grow in the ground.

My deck is a tangled mess of vines and there's already a ton of fruit. Lots of cherry tomatoes.

White cherry, black prince, Sungold, Brandywine, San Marzano.green zebra. I will take pictures of my first salad and post them

    LongHornfan,

sorry, i had to run, my blood sugar was dropping due to so much , fervorous , vigorous, ...heavy breathing on my ears and neck...so, i ran for a cuppa..Heavenly coffee, and,

a bagel. Topped off with , Vidalia onions, and, you will never believe this, jalapeno peppers...Keeps the heartburn in check, as it tends to flutter, in the breeze....from the gulf.....Hi!!!

    What a prospect...-

or, was that just a ..banter from the LongHornedFan??

    don't think so..

Catch ya' in September, when the autumn leaves begin to ..fall..at the castles,

with the 7th tribe....what a prospect...or, is it that one Willie sings,

You were always on my mind..?

I love tomatoes and onions with Jalapeno prospectors...

Tomatoes are just starting to get ready down here. Another couple of weeks and gardeners will be bursting at the seams with them. That's why I never plant tomatoes. I know where all the gourmet gardeners are! They keep planting those determinate varieties...
