Just Listen-up, You Might Learn Something

Simple story. No beginning. No middle. No end.

I was about nineteen and attending a trade school over on the other side of town. I took three different buses each way, and got to talking with a very old black gentleman on the second bus. One day I fatuously used the term "ordinary people" while telling him some forgotten tale and he interrupted me, saying "Stop right there young man. There ain't no such-a thing as an ordinary person. Every soul on this bus could tell you a story that would make your hair stand on end." And ever since that day, I've tried my best to listen to all the extraordinary stories that all the extraordinary people have had to relate. I have always felt richer for the admonishment.
