I live in Greece and love it! I've lived most of my adult life here, on an island in the West of Greece. Went back to the UK in 2000, but came back here in 2006 with my partner of 10 years. I live in a small town, in a maze of small alley ways. we can see the sea and the snow-capped mountains in the distance, at the end of our street. I find people are much friendlier and more open than in England, and there is more of a sense of community. Learning Greek is ongoing ......! I've never learnt it formally, just picked it up, but now go to a conversation class once a week.

I'm semi-retired now, but still do part-time teaching English to Greek students. I do private lessons here in our flat. The summers here are wonderful, but unfortunately our island is well discovered and packed out with tourists in July and August. Oh well - I had the beaches to myself for a long time!

Luck didn't have much to do with it. I chose this life! The lucky part is having a bloke who's got a job here and earns the money!

you lucky son of a b***, i wish i was on a great small island too. :(
