Sexlessness Is Bad For You...but You Already Knew That!

I know the subject of lack of sex having a negative impact on our health has come up in this group numerous times. I have seen articles on it from time to time....this one is the latest one I have found...it was on Yahoo...9 things that make you look older than you actually are (I can't recall all the others but they could be easily remedied by yourself, i.e. eat less sugar, get a decent night's sleep, put a little fat in your diet, etc.). # 9 can't be resolved by yourself:

9. You can't recall when you last had sex
Yep, sex feels good and does wonders for your mood, but it's also fantastically great for your health. Research shows that people with active sex lives have stronger immune systems, less pain, a lower cancer risk, healthier hearts, and less stress. The best news: It can even make you look younger—up to 12 years, a study shows.

Act your age: Rekindle the romance between you and your partner. To shake things up, try making the first move next time. "Some women are not active participants in their sex lives," says Pat Covalt, PhD, author of What Smart Couples Know. "A lot of men would like to be touched more, seduced more. Everyone wants to feel wanted."

So, just as we suspected, our spouses are killing us...feels like a slow and painful death sometimes.

Revirgin....interesting comments. You do make some valid points to be considered. The author mentioned in this article is not alone in saying that sex is healthy. Dr. Mehmet Oz says it a lot too. To be honest, I really like Dr. Oz, but I am also very jealous of him...he seems to have life on a platter...he's brilliant, good looking, happy with his career, makes gazillions of dollars, has a happy marriage (or so we are told) to a beautiful woman. So when he says sex is important to your health, I feel like I wish i could slap him, lol.

You ask about widows and single people, etc....I wonder if they are saying that it's not necessarily the sex in your life that makes you healthier...maybe the point is, if you are in a sexless relationship, that added stress can make you more suseptible to illnesses and can make you appear older (worn out maybe). It would be hard to imagine they have accurate scientific studies for something like this...who would get to be in the having sex group and who would be stuck in the no sex group?? lol...

So, my Refuser H basically killed my soul and now, he's killing my body!!!
Whoop de dooo..
I just feel like singing - It's a wonderful, wonderful life!!!!
(In misery, sarcasm comes gushing forth!)

I think women are more frustrated about sex than men because we are a lot harder to please in bed, they can take 5 minutes and this its amazing and we are looking at them like really ??? because i thought it could have gone longer......
i think talking about it is important and letting your husband know when he does something you like. Sex is a very important part of a relationship, and if it isn't great for both people, then the relationship suffers....

lol, PittieLover...I meant to comment on that as well...before I found EP, I felt so ashamed, I was certain that I was the only woman in my situation! As we know too well, there are lots of men who are not interested in sex.

I don't think so...I think it's being touched and interacting with another person that does it!

I wonder whether a high frequency of ************ would have a similar beneficial effect?
