I've been thinking about how this behavior impacts children. I probably grew up in a sexless marriage (after 5 kids were born) and look at me today - in one. I have a question for the group - did you see much/any affection between your parents growing up?

Never. I think my dad might be Asperger's or what they used to call Asperger's. He is extremely uncomfortable with any physical or emotional closeness. Can't tolerate noise either, and is pretty clueless about emotional cues. My mom acts like nothing bothers her, but I sadly fear she has led a life of quiet despair.

I saw some affection, but most of the time I could sense that my mom was emotionally neglected a lot of the time. There were several times during my childhood when my mom threatened to divorce my dad, and a few years ago I had to talk her out of leaving him. So, all in all I've never witnessed a truly happy healthy marriage.

I have yet to get used to it. In fact, the longer the more pissed off I am getting about it.

I understand completely, I've had the same experience before and it's depressing I know. It's messed up when they say that they can't because the kids are home, but when you have an empty nest and the 'excuse' is removed and still there's nothing... not fair, not cool, not okay at all.

"never thought it would be like this." Funny - I told my husband the same thing last week. I guess it's the things we don't think about that bite us in the ***.

I don't think you ever get used to not having sex. Let me know if you do.

Perhaps you could play "NASTY CAR" and ask him to look under the "HOOD"!! Use a finger as a DIPSTICK...or something ELSE as one!! Sounds like a routine that you are NO stranger to... You have written your story...Now what are YOU going to do???
