As someone who has lived through a similar life of disappointments, friction and disconnected memories of happier times, I empathize. How many times have I wondered how we got from that blissful state to this?! I have ridden the roller coaster of marriage and I am about to get off, the fun and laughter replaced by angst and nausea. It wasn't supposed to be like this. :(

Omg. I loved your story. You wrote it in a very comic way and so clear. It is what most of us are going through in ILiSM. Thanks :)

Ive missed you to. Sadly we didnt get to meet but i had lunch with old "friend" i was once her youth pastor. Oddly enough our conversation led to her disclosing she is in a SM. Divine appointment? Tried my best to help her.

Giggle. I guess I am quite lucky my Mother-in-law is morally opposed to cooking. Every Christmas we were reminded why when she would bake cookies that if you tried to bite them would break your teeth.
I once tried to make cookies with her. She actually told me I was doing it wrong. If I continued the way I was doing it the cookies would be soft. At that point I realized she was proud of those little hockey pucks!
Needless to say my husband who was always under weight before he married me has had to watch his weight ever since he married me.

      haha@hockey pucks!

Unfortunately for me- my MIL takes local cooking classes all the time(and teaches some) just for fun! And I swear- that woman intentionally doesn't give *exact* recipes because she wants to be the bestest of all bestest cooks in the family. I never stood a chance!

That is sooo not fair. Don't compete darling just do your own cooking. Worst comes to worst make things she doesn't. Just do not use her recipes. Amazon.com has cook books free all the time for kindle. (If you down load the app to your computer if you don't have a kindle) You can get a whole range of new recipes. Good luck dear

You're right! Over the years, I have started to make my own things and only ask for a recipe if H and kids really love a meal she prepared.
The one lucky thing is that H is an amazing cook on his own accord so the poor guy doesn't suffer too much.:p

lol! See... I'm such a people pleaser that I actually called his mom from the very start and asked for step by step instructions on how she cooks meals.
Even so.. "It doesn't really taste the way Mom makes it.... Are you sure you didn't miss an ingredient, Honey?"
Me...smiling... "No, Darling... well, maybe a little antifreeze.."
