IUDs Are From the Devil (and Maybe Other Birth Control)

A personal story in the experience: I Live In a Sexless Marriage

I haven’t posted in awhile. I hope this comes out as a phrase of hope more to those who have read my stories then bragging, but my sex life has gotten better. Not as good as I would like it, but it is a lot better then what it once was.

The major component seems to be my wife is off her IUD. In fact we’ve ditched birth control all together for now. And for the first time since she decided to go on birth control she’s back to her old “I don’t mind I’m telling you I’m horney” self.

My wife was having problems with her drive when she went to her doctor. She said that she didn’t have a sex drive and her doctor told her to get off oral contraceptives and put in and IUD.

That made a bad situation worse. First there were the ache breakouts. Then she gained weight which really helps a delicate woman’s body image. If that didn’t kill everything she started getting constant headaches. And no I’m not talking about the I’d rather watch HGTV then do you right now. Real, I’m going to take a bottle of Advil and going to bed headaches.

She went to a new doctor and he did the tests and came to the conclusion I came to months ago. He took out the IUD. Within a week the headache was gone. A few weeks later I was asleep in bed and she came in and jumped me. Just woke me up and said it’s time to go!?! After years of being denied that was a shock. But the bigger shock was the next night we were sitting around watching TV and she said she wanted to do it again. Wait!?!?! Two nights in a row?

So for you men out there…. If you’re wife is turning you down think seriously about when things started and she might have been taking for birth control when it started. If you even think there is a correlation; get her to the doctor and get that IUD out, replace the pill with Tic Tacs and do whatever you can to get her hormones back to normal. And yes, you might have to go back to condoms. But are you really going to complain?

Interesting, I got my wife off the pill a year ago (as a result of internet research) and she was meant to move to an IUD but could not be bothered. Unfortunately the natural approach has been no help at all - guess the issue is not hormonal.

The Standard Days Method (currently our BC strategy) works flawlessly when combined with abstinence. I am also sure she is delighted that she does not even have to worry about rejecting me for 11 days of each cycle.

Thanks for posting. Although I hardly think this is my husbands issue, I know being on the pill made me depressed. I really wish the side affects of BC were discussed more before women (especially young girls) are encouraged to go on it.

My wife used a diaphragm until our third and last child. When our last was 8 months I got a vasectomy.

So this is my experience with that.
- It cost 10 dollars (co-pay - LOL)
- It was quick and painless and I healed fast / a few days
- My ******* felt a little "off" for about 2 years - not bad - not painful - just "off"
- And that was it, I would do it again in a heartbeat

I hate condoms - wife does not like condoms - and the diaphragm always worked for us but it made me a bit nervous since I have read they have a high failure rate.

What kind of IUD? If it is the copper IUD it doesn't have hormones. That is what I have and I still have the same sex drive. Maybe it is acting like a placebo for her, she believes that is what was causing it so now that it is out its back.
