ived in the Puna District for almost four years.
Was like a spiritual death experience.
Made good friends, closer than family, and got to eat all the mangoes I wanted. Got to have a baby in a birthing hut my friends made for me- surrounded my hapu'u ferns and anthuriums.
Learned how to fire dance and shake my *** Tahitian style.
Created a mama circle and provided domestic violence shelter in my home, which made me popular with some and hated by others.
Couldn't get a job because of my white skin, tattoos, and single mom status.
Sold the state's #1 agricultural product at concerts and made enough to survive on.
