That is terrible. I hear this all too often. Lung cancer creeps up really fast. Odds are, there were nothing you could have done.

    I was daddy's girl also. I lost mine when I was 9.

Its still hard to deal with, and probably always will be.

    Hang in there.

It must have been hard for you to see him go down hill, but you are so fortunate to have been able to reverse the roles a bit and care for him. I wasn't able to do that as he was in Arizona and me in Michigan, but I would have cared for him in a heartbeat, he was such a special man and so many people loved him. My stepmom had a memorial party and almost two hundred people showed up to honor my dad. That I think is what got my heart the most, that so many people loved him too. He was just a fantastic human being.

How sad, I too lost my father to cancer, bowel cancer. He got a year from the time he was diagnosed dispite surgery. His last 6 months were horrific and I cared for him throughout. Never wanna see that again, it robbed him of his dignity and he was such a proud man. Thanks for sharing, I miss my dad terribly too.
