I love the random conversations that just happen in my life.
People...strangers actually, come up to me and tell me very personal things about their lives. I don't know why. I don't know if I have a 'friendly face' or what it is, but all my life, people have done this.
For example, when I take my Mom out on errands or shopping, I usually finish before she does, so I will sit outside the store on a bench and smoke a cigarette and watch people, play on my Blackberry, whatever.
If someone is sitting on the bench or standing nearby, they usually start talking to me, and it's not the generic, "Sick of this rain, or it's crowded in the store today."
I have heard stories of sons in prison, sickness in the family, divorce, etc. right off the bat!
Strangers have told me things about their lives that are so personal, that if I were dealing with what they are dealing with, I wouldn't talk to a stranger about it, I would talk to a close friend.
I enjoy this though, and Mom and my boyfriend have gotten used to seeing me standing with a stranger involved in serious conversation.
I'm glad people feel safe just randomly coming up to me and talking about their lives. I hope just being able to talk to someone about it helps them somehow although I do not offer advice, only encouragement.
I just wonder why people, strangers really, feel comfortable telling me all this stuff.
It's pretty cool though.
