Ganesh Avatar

Up close, the details of MADHATTER's avatar emerge to reveal the characteristics of his father Shiva [Parvati, of course, being Ganesh's mother]. On the trunk are seen the three stripes Shaivites "paint" in ash usually on the forehead, preferably of cremated corpses OR MANIFESTED ash "from thin air" - not very common, representing at once Trimurti: Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, as well as the 3 gunas - raja, tama, and sattva. Shiva is the one always having these three "stripes" of the three deities. Shiva's devotees include ghosts, thus the cremation ashes. There is at least one experience I shan't reveal here that validate these stripes on a rare occasion I've had.

Above this, where the "third eye [ajna chakra]" lives, is the Trident Shiva is almost always depicted as carrying, painted in Shiva's honor.

Om Namah Shivaya.

Nice to meet a kindred spirit - I'm a recovering Catholic born in USA who found my true path as laid out by a Hindu guru 30 years ago and I haven't regretted a moment.

funny you mention this as I was gonna to ask about that avatar..clearly Ganesh but more as to why it was chosen. I was born an American and raised as Christian but my heart lies in Hindism most of all. Seems so few understand and if I had dollar for every one that think I worship the cow versus God I would be a rich woman. Thanks for the inspiration I am going to change my avatar now so one I had before. Many don't care for it and I wonder if they will ob<x>ject, funny on site about not judging so many really do but seeing your profile let me know I am not the only one with such views. Namaste.
