My Favorite Quote From Alice In Wonderland

My favorite quote from Alice in Wonderland.
Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to
Alice: I don't much care where.
The Cat: Then it doesn't much matter which way you go.
Alice: …so long as I get somewhere.
The Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.

I love this quote because when I read this book and especially this passage I got the following from it. Alice, of course, is lost and she is asking for directions from the cat however to me the passage means much more than that. What I understand from this is that Alice has a goal to get somewhere and the cat is telling her that it doesn't matter what path she chooses because she has pre-destined destination already planned for her.

I like "We're all mad here, I'm mad, you're mad" also by the Cheshire cat

I think my username says it all;)

My favourite quote also. I have it in large adhesive letters on my bedroom wall.<br />
I also love "Jabberwocky" so much I have the first verse tattooed on my upper arm.

A raven is like a writing desk because they are both entirely unlike something else entirely.

True George!

My former boss--a definite type A, like virtually all successful salespeople--interpreted that quote rather differently. He pointed out that, if you don't have any goal in mind, you'll certainly end up SOMEwhere . . . not necessarily a place you want to be!

So Alice or the cat ...........which

Ohhh Salar not everyone keeps an agenda. Not all people are type A like me.

sounds a bit like the cat is avoiding the question ....... And Alice has a secret agenda ....

Ty Levin. I always appreciate you soon.

I think far too many people never take that kind of advice. It really doesn't matter, the destination. What really matters is the path we are walking now. There are no wrong paths, just different ones. I know those who run on the treadmill of life, all their life, and at the end are miserable, cantankerous old fools. Then there are some (I like to count myself among them) who walk whatever their path is, smile, laugh, try to make others laugh, and enjoy the life they were given. Good post - you get an A+ from the old soldier section.

Very good choice in literature my friend. It will make you think and wonder the possibilities. It is filled with fantasy, but the way he writes made me really think is this really possible? l have missed you.

well written post.

I found my notes I had taken while I was working on the article. It was printed so I can always scan it (of course my parents bought many copies of it lol) and post it but I was trying not to go to my peeps' house.

try to find it, I am curious to read it. :)

Agreed. I was talking this through with Arm Candy earlier and we had discussed that as well. I love this book and I actually wrote a paper about it when I was in college. If I can find it I will share it... It was talking about the life lessons that AIW can teach us. Well I am late for bed and I promised Arm Candy I would go directly so peace out Love you both... good night.

...and what about this.... cat can't give her advice when she doesn't know where she want to go. If she has at least some plan for her future, the cat will tell her which path she should chose.
