I Love American History
I'm new to the forums, so I'm looking around to gauge people's interests. Is there anyone here that enjoys American military history? If so, then why?
I find that I enjoy studying WWII the most, due to the socioeconomic climate of the world at the time. I always get the feeling that the colossal military campaigns that the American armed forces conducted during the war was reminiscent to fictional stories of good rallying to triumph over evil. (A bit theatrical, but please bear with me).
Anyway, I find that the Normandy campaign has to be the most enjoyable aspect of America's involvement during World War II. I'm fascinated learning about the complex interactions that existed between the various members of the Allied high command, as how those relationships ultimately designed the course of the battle. The last British offensive around the French city of Caen may never have happened, should Eisenhower's frustration with Montgomery reached its boiling point.
I digress. So EP, what would you say is the American military conflict that you find the most interesting?
