The Environment Matters

Living in the country, I grew up with wildlife from the insects right up to cattle respecting their role in the wider Eco system.

I played with wood lice, had Caterpillar crawling along branches taking care NOT to have them come on me and saw first hand the self healing abilities of the common earth worm.

Equally, because I had to walk to school, I observed such phenomena as spiders waiting in their webs for prey finally spun in hedgerows or between trees, saw birds actually nesting walking and staying very still as well as winter migration. In addition you saw the Seasons -  the arrival of the first daffodils, wild poppies, clover, The fall in it's full colourful glory and Snowfalls.

Having inland waterways nearby , I was able to see every year the new born Cygnets and their parents as well as ducks and water mammals while walking along lush green grass.

What I would say is I learned at an an early age to appreciate the Wonder that is Nature and to respect Animals.
